THE GALLERY : Exhibitions at the ELMS LESTERS PAINTING ROOMS "where counterculture comes in from the cold” (Time Out) are curated by Paul Jones, one of the original exponents of graffiti art, who has been championing the genre of art for over 15 years. The current explosion of interest in 'urban artists' is literally phenomenal. Artists who have defied the traditional art world by serving their apprenticeships on the street are attracting the attention of the International art cognoscenti.
This exhibition features five exceptional artists, each a master of their chosen medium.

ADAM NEATE : Possibly Britain's most exciting emerging contemporary artist, Adam's work is being snapped up by serious collectors and institutions alike, and fans feverishly follow his work on scores of independent internet blogs. Famous for leaving his trademark cardboard paintings on the street, Adam's work is an extraordinary mix of cubism, surrealism and expressionism.
This exhibition will also see the release of the first in a series of three limited edition giclee prints by ADAM NEATE produced by Elms Lesters Painting Rooms.

ANTHONY LISTER : Australian born artist now living in New York, ANTHONY LISTER's work draws references from cartoons and comics, and his experiences in the world of graffiti and street art. Society's underbelly inspires the work of Anthony Lister, focusing on people who are down on their luck, convicted criminals, and the daily grind. Whilst his subject matter is often uncomfortable, Lister's work has a fragile quality; faint lines, detritus and subtle pop-art statements. He has exhibited widely both in Australasia, Europe and America, as well as recently undertaking a research residency in Berlin.

PHIL FROST : A sophisticated self taught artist, Brooklyn based PHIL FROST has continued to move back and forth between culture and counter-culture, operating both inside and outside the system, and has exhibited widely in both commercial galleries and museum spaces in USA, Europe and Far East. Phil Frost's work was exhibited alongside artists such as Picasso, Dalí, Magritte and Warhol in the exhibition "Looking at Words" at the Andrea Rosen Gallery, New York in 2005.
A major one-man show "SEEING IS BELIEVING" was presented by Elms Lesters at the end of 2006 to critical acclaim.

SPACE INVADER : The elusive French guerrilla artist, SPACE INVADER, has now invaded every continent in the world with his instantly recognisable Space Invader mosaics. Since 1999 he has invaded London 6 times. His most recent incursion, just before Christmas, brought the total number of pieces on the streets in London to 94. When he has left 100 pieces he will produce a map and publication. This exhibition will include mosaics as well as his RUBIK CUBISM pieces in which he creates pixelated versions of old masters and iconic contemporary figures from RUBIK cubes.

WK INTERACT : Frenchman and New York resident WK INTERACT is instantly recognisable. During the last fifteen years he has decorated whole tracts of the New York's SoHo district with his explosive, dynamic and energetic figures, which appear as if they are permanently on the move; pushing, stumbling, running. His work has been exhibited internationally from America, England and France to Japan and Hong Kong.
